Sometimes, the weather can be a source of laughter. Because really, what else can you do when it is freezing out other than laugh? Practically speaking, if you cried, your tears would freeze to your face and we all know that that’s not fun now, is it? So, it’s cold. The snow was blowing sideways last night. And this morning? There were those little icy drifts that make you think you are in an Antarctic wasteland. The tricky thing, is that just yesterday, the weather was like 40 degrees. Well, at least I thought to fill my car up with gas yesterday so I didn’t have to do it today.
Stay warm today, everyone, if it’s cold out by you!

Bang a drum
January 28, 2008 · Leave a Comment
As my birthday is tomorrow, I thought this would be an appropriate video to highlight birthdays. It is a video of people from ages 1 to 100 stating their age and playing a drum. Some of them really get into it! Enjoy!

Not really funny, but comical

Yesterday, I was driving on the expressway on my way to work, as usual. Well, it’s winter her in Chicago, and that means there was a yucky mess of salt, muck, and snow on the road. In no time at all, my windshield was gunked up. Bad thing. I tried my windshield wipers and spray. Double bad thing, because either the fluid was frozen somehow, or, more likely, the fluid compartment was empty. Big uh oh. So, my wipers made the windshield even worse. Eventually, at its worst, I could see through about an inch worth of clean space (after probably rubbing my windshield wipers to a nub trying to clean off the drying crud). Not a good thing, by a long shot. Salvation came in the form of a white car in front of me. I could see white! Whoo hoo! That helped to guide me. And then a black car pulled in front of me. Boo, hiss! Eventually, I came to my exit, and was able to pull off.
So, today, my day off, is the day that I’ll be bringing my car to Jiffy Lube to get the oil changed and the windshield fluid topped off. I don’t want to repeat yesterday ever again. The bad thing, is I noticed this problem occurring before yesterday, but I thought the fluid just must be frozen because it has been SO COLD! Yesterday was warmer, however, so I think I just ran out. Oops! Don’t let that happen to you on the expressway…learn from my mistake!
So, where to file this comical tidbit? Perhaps under “What makes people happy?” Yesterday, and from now on, the answer is simple: windshield washer fluid! PS, this windshield was cleaner than mine, if you can imagine.![]()

Things we used to hate, that now we love!
January 17, 2008 · 2 Comments
Tony and I had a conversation this morning about hats and naps. Ok, so it was 6:45 am and we were just returning from our early morning before work workout. Yes, that *is* impressive. We started working out again this week, and so far we’ve gone everyday! Right now we are stretching, and working out for 15 minutes on the elliptical machine. I remember a time when I would whine about doing 3 minutes.
We had been up to about 30 minutes, but we have to slowly work out way back again.
Anyway, back to the hats and naps. I commented that I was really glad that I started wearing a hat, instead of a hood. Now, Tony has been trumpeting the glories of wearing a hat for quite some time, but I have just recently jumped on the hat bandwagon. Hats do indeed make your head (and whole body, really) feel warmer! Jacket hoods always have a way of slipping off, especially if you are doing something like shoveling snow. The funny thing is, neither Tony or I liked wearing hats when we were younger. For me, it was the cool factor, but it is funny because I was never really cool to begin with.
I’m not sure why Tony didn’t like wearing a hat, but maybe it was for the same reason. Now, however, we LOVE wearing hats in the winter.
That got us thinking…what other things do we like to do now that we didn’t as children? The answer…NAPS! Yes, I remember fighting naptime growing up. My mom gave me little star stickers when I took my nap. I liked those stickers, so I took my naps, most of the time, I’m assuming. Now, however, both Tony and I love to take naps. We don’t do it very often (maybe watching a game of Sunday afternoon football!) but when we do, boy, it is a treat!
So there you have it…hats and naps. What is it that you like to do now that you didn’t used to do? Are there foods that you hated growing up, but now you can’t get enough of? Let me know!

Faulty hospital gown
January 15, 2008 · Leave a Comment
Today my husband and I went for my 4 month skin cancer checkup. I’m pleased to say that all went well! We go back in another 6 months. Well, what’s funny about that, you ask? Nothing really, unless you count the first gown that I was given to wear today. I don’t know how it made it through the laundry room without someone noticing it. One of the sleeves was completely ripped, making the sleeve unwearable! It’s a little hard to see from this picture, but take it from me… we had to get a new one! ![]()

Knock Knock jokes
January 7, 2008 · Leave a Comment
What’s better than a knock knock joke? Some of these are pretty silly…ok, so most of them are, but that is the nature of knock knock jokes, isn’t it? Read enough knock knock jokes and you can’t help but laugh, even if they just warrant a chuckle. P.S. I’ve still got the cold. And it is funny, either Season 6 of Friends isn’t as funny as I had once thought, or some things aren’t as funny when you have a temperature.
Lose a million pounds!
January 5, 2008 · 2 Comments
The mayor of Oklahoma City set a whopping New Year’s Resolution for the residents of his town…lose one million pounds! Now, that is a goal! It seems like people like that resolution, because they are already losing weight. Personally, I’d be happy to lost 20. How about you? Do you have any resolutions that you would consider humorous, or have you heard of funny resolutions? Please share, if you have.
Have a great day!

Getting a cold…ok, so that’s not really funny
January 5, 2008 · Leave a Comment
So I’ve got a cold. Tony and I both have colds. I have to admit, I didn’t do too much to prevent this one. But I have to tell you, I am doing my best to minimize the damage.
You might not think having a cold is funny, but the way I’m dealing with it is. I’ve declared war on this cold. I’m drinking water. And tea, and using cold medicine. I haven’t yet gargled with salt water (one of my favorite things to do…NOT!) but that is next on the list. This cold doesn’t stand a chance! If you have any cold remedies, feel free to share. And I promise I won’t share my cold germs back.
Have a good day everyone!
