You Just Have to Laugh

Customer Service

June 26, 2008 · Leave a Comment

With a title like that, you might think this post is going to be about bad customer service that I received recently from a business establishment.  Actually, my boss told us about a very inspirational video about how one person provided great customer service and how we can all strive to do the same thing.  It put a smile on my face…hope it does the same for you! Have a great day!

Recess at Work Day – great idea!

June 21, 2008 · 2 Comments

Well, it looks like I missed this special day by two days, but it’s still a great idea! June 19, 2008 was Recess at Work Day. It is meant to be a time when workers can just relax. The website states: “The Board of Directors has declared that all employees should take a recess on June 19th! Laugh. Take a walk. Watch a movie. Spend some time with a fun teambuilding exercise. Cease from the day-to-day routine for just a bit. And this means everyone – even the boss! Call it Team Building. Call it Employee Morale. Just make sure you call it fun. Today is your day to create team spirit, engage employees, increase morale and share your fun side with the people you spend the majority of your life with. Participating in Recess At Work Day could also help improve mental and physical health, which might bring down insurance costs.”

So, I missed this important day, but although it is Saturday, there are people who are at work today. Take a break, guys, and recharge your batteries! Time for recess!

A very good day

June 16, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Today I brought a rhubarb crisp dessert to my boss who is ill from cancer.  That in itself, is not something one would generally laugh about.  Although they do say that laughter is the best medicine.  But the whole things makes me smile, because although it was brief, we had a good visit.  I told him about our reading clib and how many registrations we had.  He thought that was a good thing! I went with another co-worker, so that was helpful.  It is hard doing that stuff on your own.

On the way home from work, I picked up our Seattle Sutton meals.  As I was driving, I listened to a wonderful Disney album called Millennium Celebration.  Hoo wee, I had the windows open and the music cranked.  Driving with the windows down…it was great! I’ll have to drive to that soundtrack more often!

Disney Movie Night: The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad

June 8, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Tony and I returned from Kentucky tonight, with enough time to keep up our Disney Movie Night tradition. We started this tradition after returning from our honeymoon (at Walt Disney World) two years ago. We were planning on watching some sort of Disney movie every Sunday night (because that was the night of the week that The Wonderful World of Disney aired on television). Well, real life happened, and the movies, sadly, did not.

After returning from our most recent trip to WDW, however, we resurrected the tradition. We have watched quite a few movies so far: Cinderella, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Mary Poppins, Enchanted, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, The Bee Movie, and a documentary entitled Tomorrow Land: Disney in Space and Beyond.

Tonight’s feature was The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad. I liked the story of Mr. Toad quite a bit! I have become quite delighted with the hand-drawn cartoons that were the hallmark of Walt Disney’s early years. I can’t even begin to fathom how many hours it took to create those movies. It is amazing to see in the list of credits how many people are involved in each movie.

Next week? We’ll be watching Bambi. Tony said to be prepared. I guess it doesn’t have a happy ending. But it is one of the Disney classic movies, so we have to watch it! See you next week!

Relaxing in Kentucky

June 5, 2008 · Leave a Comment

We’re just having a great time in Kentucky, my hubby and I. The weather is wonderful, the scenery is the tops, and the company is outstanding. :) Today we visited the Pikeville Public Library, the Page-3 videogame store (which has everything from video games, DVDs, role playing games…even Pocky!) the Eastern Kentucky Exposition Center and then shopping at Walmart. And I had a crocheted this afternoon and then took a luxurious two hour nap! Whooie! Good times. Tony went out on the 4-wheeler with his dad and had a super time. And we’re wrapping up with dinner of fried fish. Yum! A good day. :)

I’d like a cow, please!

June 1, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I read an article today that I wanted to share. It has to do with our expectations about our relationships. The article starts out about how a bride to be turned down a diamond ring and instead asked for a cow. She and her future husband are farmers, see and she thought that a ring would just end up in a drawer while she mucked about in the barn. Sounds good? You can read more here.
